The Office of Research Administration (ORA) is responsible for pre-award and non-fiscal post-award administration of grants and contracts at Tufts University. ORA works with other administrative offices to create an environment that encourages and facilitates research.
The office strives to provide high-quality services to the faculty and to increase the funding available to support research, while protecting the university’s interests. It also helps to assure that Tufts is in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations.
The university encourages extramural support of research and other scholarly activities which contribute to its overall academic mission. The acceptance of external funding, whether restricted or unrestricted, imposes certain legal obligations on the university with regard to use, management and accountability of those funds. ORA works with members of the faculty and other administrative offices to assure that these obligations are met.
