Search Engines

Listed below are the major searchable funding opportunity databases available to all investigators at Tufts University. Investigators may search for funding opportunities directly or request assistance from the Office of Research Administration (ORA).

Please also note that the Office of Proposal Development (OPD) in the Office of the Vice Provost (OVP) can provide custom funding opportunity searches by faculty request. Searches can be targeted to a general investigative field or a specific project idea. To file a funding search request, please complete the OPD request form.

The OPD also offers training by phone on how to use funding databases, as well as self-training documents. Please keep in mind that to search the GrantsNet, IRIS, and ResearchResearch databases, you must be logged onto the Tufts University network; therefore, for the funding search program, please plan to have a computer on the Tufts network available. If you are interested in this training, please contact OPD at (617) 636-2480 or email proposaldevelopment@tufts.edu to set up an appointment.

Besides search engines, additional funding opportunities are available via listing of corporations and foundations and Tufts internal funding. Please review these sections if you are considering seeking funding from these sources.

You can use the COS Expertise database to identify experts and collaborators, including their current research activity, funding received, publications, patents, new positions, and more. You can also promote your own research by contacting ORA at (617) 636-6550 to create a COS Profile. You can also use RefAware, a current awareness service that monitors over 9,000 resources and alerts you as soon as a new paper, article or other reference matching your criteria is published.
